Documentation of Change

Definition

Recording what changed between iterations and why, alongside the work itself.

Why it matters

Without documentation, iteration becomes directionless — you can’t tell what’s working or explain your choices to others (or yourself, later).

Example

A short note or annotated screenshot beside each version: “v03 — increased contrast, previous version felt flat.”

Teaching note

This is what makes critique answerable. A student with documented alternates can say why a rejected direction was rejected; a student without them can only defend or capitulate.
