Section 10 · Systems & Multi-Tool Workflow
Links Inventory
- Definition
A layout application’s record of every placed file, reporting status (linked, modified, missing), location, and effective resolution at the placed size.
- Why it matters
This is where a document is verified as ready to output. A missing link means the image won’t print; a modified link means a stale version is on the page.
- Example
Checking before export and finding one image at 96 ppi effective because it was scaled up after placement.
- Teaching note
Pair with Effective Resolution (Section 3). Students cannot check the number that matters from inside the image editor, and most don’t know this panel exists.
