Section 9 · Time, Motion & Interaction

Keyframes and Duration

Definition

Keyframes mark the start and end states of a change; duration is the time between them over which that change happens.

Why it matters

Nearly all motion design is built from keyframes — understanding them is the foundation for any animation tool.

Example

A keyframe at 0 seconds for an object off-screen and another at 1 second for its final position.
