Section 7 · Image Construction & Compositing

Compositing

Definition

Combining multiple source images into a single unified image, reconciling scale, perspective, value, color, and surface so they read as belonging together.

Why it matters

Compositing is where Section 5 gets tested at once. The technical operations are straightforward; making the result cohere is the actual work.

Example

Matching grain, contrast, and color temperature of a stock photograph to a scanned print so the seam disappears.
