Section 4 · Vector Construction

Bezier Curves and Handles

Definition

Curved path segments whose shape is controlled by direction handles extending from each anchor point. Handle length controls the depth of the curve; handle angle controls its direction.

Why it matters

Handles are the difference between drawing a curve and specifying one. Fluency here is the single most transferable vector skill.

Example

Shortening a handle to tighten a curve’s arc without moving the anchor point itself.
